BMW 3-Series production at the company's home plant in Munich
Like each of its predecessors since 1975, the new BMW 3-Series will be built at BMW Plant Munich. The company's home plant lies at the centre of the sprawling Bavarian city and represents the heart of the BMW Group; vehicles and engines have been produced here since 1922. The multi-layered infrastructure of BMW Plant Munich, which has developed in step with the residential area around it, is reflected above all in its complex machinery and innovative manufacturing processes. The well-oiled interplay of production, logistics, transportation and administration within a relatively tight space ranks as one of the most remarkable feats in automotive construction worldwide. The start of production of the new BMW 3-Series at the nerve centre of the Bavarian manufacturer also heralds the dawn of a new era in car making. Production of the sixth-generation BMW 3-Series incorporates state-of-the-art manufacturing technologies, which will significantly improve levels of quality and efficiency. Added to which, standardised product and process modules play a key role in ensuring high productivity and flexibility. These innovative manufacturing processes and technologies allow car production at BMW Plant Munich to meet the highest standards of sustainability and environmental compatibility.
